About
Better Tomorrow/BCZ ARchT is a full-service design, production and fabrication practice based in Los Angeles. Started in 2017 by Brian Zamora and Mok Wai Wan with combined experience of over sixty years in design, construction administration and complex fabrication. As both architect and fabricator, the studio follows the principles of a “Master Builder” from conception to construction. It focuses on fine art and architectural fabrication and construction and is committed to bring its unique skill sets and experiences for custom client solutions.
Brian Zamora was a 24 year veteran of Gehry Partners, who bridged both designer and technical roles on a vast range of architecture projects. He was Senior Project designer on the Lou Ruvo Cleveland Clinic Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas Nevada, completed in 2010, as well as the Eisenhower Memorial in Washington DC completed in 2020. In 2019-2022 he was Project Architect on an large scale, two tower Apartment/Condo Development on a historic site on Sunset Blvd.
Heading up Better Tomorrow Design (installations, lighting, and products) as well as BCZ ARchT (the personal art & architecture wing of work) full time since 2022, we chase unique, challenging and original ideas in projects, always implementing an element of fun, or illusion, or the sublime. Every project needs that special hook that sets it apart from trends or cliche’.
Brian’s art interests are light based much in the realm of the Light and Space Movement, but predominately working with objects juxtaposing shadows as the driving medium. The shadows and light sources do not seem to immediately relate to the objects, creating an illusionary effect that also seems to speak to 60’s Op Art. Playing in both Architecture scale as well as object scale, the work often falls somewhere in between fine art and utilitarian.
Zamora’s architectural approach much in line with his art, also bridges visual arts and the practical through problem solving in the modern world. With a 3D Programing approach that evolves into shape, forms, and style that was crafted and developed under Gehry, he looks at every site, condition, and construction anew, with a strong foundation of building and technical understanding. Implementing new technologies into an efficient design process, as well as fabrication process (whether self performed or outsourced), clients are able to get more for their money in the end product.
